Coach Jeff Stephenson, BYBA 2034 Head Coach

Jeff has been immersed in baseball since birth. With a father who played in the MLB, the game has always been a core part of his life.
His dad went on to coach both high school and middle school baseball for decades, and Jeff was right there with him—always in the dugout, soaking it all in. Since his early teens, Jeff has coached alongside Earl, and for the past six years, they’ve co-led BYBA with one mission: to develop players using pro-level techniques, no matter their financial background.
Baseball runs deep in Jeff’s family. His father, uncle, and brother all reached the minor or major leagues—so his knowledge of the game, especially his situational awareness, is second nature and something few can match.
Fun fact: Coach Jeff is known for growing his hair out long, then putting it on the line in fun bets with his players. No one has managed to win yet, so the hair’s growing as we speak. He’s also a big fan of Charley Crockett’s “Run Horse Run,” and if you catch him on the right day, don’t be surprised to hear a loud “YEEHAWWW” when it hits that one part.

Timothy coaches to share his love of the game, and to teach players both baseball fundamentals, and valuable life skills.

Coach Corey Sasser, BYBA 2034 Assistant Coach

Corey Sasser is a passionate baseball coach with a lifelong love for the game. Growing up in a faith-driven family, Corey was involved in church activities from a young age and accepted Christ at 11, later being baptized at 16. Today, he and his wife, Kayla, are raising their two boys, Nolan and Maverik, with the same values at Central Baptist Church in Dunn. Corey’s strong belief in teaching young people to live faith-centered lives is reflected in his coaching philosophy.
Corey’s baseball journey began at age 5, where he played multiple positions before discovering his true passion for catching at age 10. He played competitively until 18, but instead of pursuing a college baseball career, Corey chose to pursue a new dream—earning a degree in turf management and working on golf courses. At 25, he followed his father’s footsteps into firefighting, beginning his full-time career in Fayetteville and now serving with the Cary Fire Department.
Despite his busy career, Corey has always kept his love for baseball alive, particularly as a catcher. He is dedicated to teaching the position to the next generation of players, bringing his experience and enthusiasm to the field. With over 20 years of baseball experience, Corey is committed to helping young athletes develop their skills, character, and faith both on and off the field.
